Forecast Discussion: Despite ample sun and light winds early this afternoon, air quality levels have slowly risen into the upper Code GREEN range. A few areas may see an hour or two in the low Code YELLOW range, but showers and thunderstorms currently developing in the mountains are expected to move slowly eastward into the Triad later this afternoon and evening to sustain Code GREEN conditions for today. A broad upper level trough of low pressure will continue to reside over the Carolinas Sunday and Monday. We can expect similar conditions currently observed across the Triad today, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon. With that said, air quality levels are expected to remain in the upper Code GREEN range. Dry northwest flow builds across the Triad on Tuesday, allowing for ozone concentrations to build into the low Code YELLOW range. (PAYNE)
