Forecast Discussion: Current conditions: Milder air is flowing northward into the area out ahead of a cold front moving through central Pennsylvania this Friday afternoon. Tonight will turn out partly cloudy as temperatures fall back close to 32 degrees by morning. *** Saturday's forecast: Sunshine most of the day Saturday as high pressure builds in from the Great Lakes. It will be on the chilly side, but low relative humidity and ample mixing will keep PM2.5 levels in the good range. *** Sunday's forecast: After a cold start, Sunday will be mostly sunny with a little milder afternoon. Light south winds and a morning inversion will bring particle concentrations up to moderate levels. *** Monday's forecast: The new work week will start off unsettled but on the mild side with rain coming in as an area of low pressure moving out of the Tennessee valley brings Gulf of Mexico moisture northward. Precipitation washout will send fine particulate back into the good range. *** Extended forecast: A strong cold front sweeping through Tuesday evening will bring much colder air in the wake of it Wednesday into Thursday. With strong mixing out ahead of the front as well as behind it, air quality should remain good Tuesday through Thursday.---McAuliffe
