Forecast Discussion: Current conditions: Clouds and a little drizzle continue to linger in the wake of low pressure now moving off the east coast this Tuesday afternoon. A brief period of dry weather will follow for Wednesday, then precipitation returns with the next storm system on Thursday. For tonight, it will be brisk and rather cold under a partly cloudy sky as lows fall back into the lower 20s. *** Wednesday's forecast: High pressure will bring a mostly sunny sky to the area Wednesday, and with ample mixing and the presence of dry air, fine particulate levels will remain in the good range. Temperatures will recover only to the middle 30s in spite of the sunshine. *** Extended forecast: A storm coming out of the Tennessee valley will bring precipitation back into the picture Thursday and Thursday night, and snow and sleet may fall for the first couple of hours of the event. During the afternoon, frozen precipitation should turn to all rain with temperatures rising above freezing. Brisk and chilly Friday with rain and snow showers, then a weak front may bring a rain or snow shower late Saturday. Lighter winds and the possibility of smoke from western fires coming in may cause fine particulate levels to increase over the weekend.---McAuliffe
