Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, April 16th, 2018 through Monday, April 23rd, 2018 Ozone: 8-hour Ozone concentrations will be Good through the forecast period. PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations will be mostly Good through the forecast period. FORECAST DISCUSSION The Spring/Winter storm which impacted the state during the weekend is slowly migrating eastward during Monday. The wrap-around winds, associated with the passage of these strong low pressure centers, will keep the state clean with continued below normal temperatures. A brief shot of high pressure will pass Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This will be followed by another storm system Wednesday night, which looks similar to the past weekend storm. Fortunately, no ice is anticipated but we could see some snow accumulations Thursday morning. During all of this time, winds will be importing clean air resulting in Good Air Quality throughout the state. The remainder of the forecast period should be quieter although still mostly below normal temperatures for this time of year. Winds never originate from areas where they could pick up pollutants thus keeping us in Good Air Quality throughout the forecast period. EXTENDED FORECAST: Air Quality is expected to be mostly Good going into the next work week. Forecast updated by Jim Haywood: Monday, April 16th, 2018 Next forecast update: Monday, April 23rd, 2018 |
