AQI: Good (0 - 50) AQI: Good (0 - 50)
Air quality is considered satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk.
AQI: Moderate (51 - 100) AQI: Moderate (51 - 100)
Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.

Although general public is not likely to be affected at this AQI range, people with lung disease, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone, whereas persons with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.

Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Saturday, June 16th, 2018 through Monday, June 18th, 2018 ...AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY ADVISORY FOR SUNDAY JUNE 17TH... THE ACTION DAY ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE FOLLOWING MICHIGAN COUNTIES: IN WEST MICHIGAN: ALLEGAN... BERRIEN... CASS... KALAMAZOO... KENT... MASON... MUSKEGON... OCEANA... OTTAWA... ST. JOSEPH... AND VAN BUREN COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN... LENAWEE... MACOMB... MONROE... OAKLAND... ST. CLAIR... WASHTENAW... AND WAYNE COUNTIES Ozone: 8-hour Ozone concentrations will be mostly Moderate with USG possible both Saturday and Sunday; levels will be Good to Moderate Monday. PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations will range from Good to middle Moderate. FORECAST DISCUSSION: Heat and humidity is still forecast to build into the state Saturday and Sunday. Storms Saturday over Lake Michigan and the western portion of the state will dissipate as a warm front tracks north of Lake Superior and upper level ridging builds in. Southwest winds will usher in warm temperatures and dew points which will make conditions feel very summer-like. This set-up will also be conducive for increased ozone. Clouds and precipitation in west Michigan early Saturday may keep ozone in the Moderate range; however, once the clouds dissipate ozone will quickly increase so the threat for USG does still exist. We have a Clean Air Action Day in place Saturday to cover this threat. Sunday, chances for storm development are less than the past couple of days. Plenty of sunshine is expected and southwest winds combined with increased temperatures at the surface and upper levels, will create an environment favorable for increased ozone. We are continuing the Clean Air Action Day for Sunday in west Michigan and will also include the Kalamazoo area. We are also adding southeast Michigan to the Clean Action Day since increased ozone will be possible in that part of the state also. The way is looks now, ozone levels should improve Monday as a cold front sinks into the state bringing with it clouds and precipitation. If the front slows down, the southern portion of the state may have one more day of heat/humidity and higher ozone levels. For now, a Moderate ozone forecast is in place. Since increased ozone Monday would be isolated, we don’t foresee the need at this time to continue the Action Day into Monday. Fine particulate will continue a slow increase with levels ranging from upper Good to middle Moderate through Monday. EXTENDED FORECAST: The cold front will be south of the state Tuesday and pollution levels by then should be back into the Good range. Forecast updated by Stephanie Hengesbach: Saturday, June 16th, 2018 Next forecast update: Monday, June 18th, 2018
