Forecast Discussion: Current Conditions: At 2 p.m. EDT this Monday afternoon, temperatures are moving into the lower to middle 90s across the area, with ozone concentrations crossing the code ORANGE threshold. With the higher humidity, fine particulate is well into the moderate range this afternoon. Partly cloudy and sticky tonight with a shower or thunderstorm moving through as a backdoor cold front slips southward. *** Tuesday's forecast: It will be cooler Tuesday, with a mostly cloudy sky, and a shower cannot be ruled out. Ozone levels will lower to the lower moderate range, and the northerly flow will also send fine particulate down into the good range. *** Extended forecast: An area of low pressure coming out of the Ohio valley will bring unsettled weather to the area Wednesday, with more numerous showers and thunderstorms. Both ozone and fine particulate will remain inside the good range. High pressure will bring dry weather to the area Thursday into Friday. A north to northwesterly flow of clean background air will mean good air quality for the area Thursday, then ozone levels may become more moderate by Friday as winds go light and southerly under a partly sunny sky.---McAuliffe
