Forecast Discussion: Current Conditions: At 2 p.m. EDT this Friday afternoon, low pressure across the Midwest has a stationary front extending eastward from it to the Mid-Atlantic coast. Showers to the north of this front will affect us into tonight. *** Saturday's forecast: A stationary front to the south will move northward slowly as a warm front on Saturday, bringing some rain and drizzle in the morning, and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. With an onshore wind, fine particulate and ozone levels will continue to be in the good range. *** Sunday's forecast: A little more sunshine may appear on Sunday, and if there is enough sun, ozone levels may rise into the moderate range. Fine particulate may also go moderate as there will increasing humidity out ahead of a cold front coming southward. A thunderstorm or two is possible Sunday afternoon and evening with this front. *** Monday's forecast: High pressure will build into the area to start the workweek, and the influx of drier air will keep PM2.5 and ozone levels in the good range. *** Extended forecast: Moderate levels of ozone are possible on Tuesday with a good amount of sunshine and a reduced amount of mixing. Enough dry air will remain to where fine particulate may stay good, but there is also a question as to whether smoke from Canadian fires gets transported southward, and PM values would be higher if this were to occur. The next weather system may bring another round of rainfall back by the middle of next week.---McAuliffe
