AQI: Good (0 - 50) AQI: Good (0 - 50)
Air quality is considered satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk.
AQI: Moderate (51 - 100) AQI: Moderate (51 - 100)
Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
AQI: Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101 - 150) AQI: Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101 - 150)
Although general public is not likely to be affected at this AQI range, people with lung disease, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone, whereas persons with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.
AQI: Unhealthy (151 - 200) AQI: Unhealthy (151 - 200)
Everyone may begin to experience health effects members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects.
 AQI:Very Unhealthy (201 - 300) AQI: Very Unhealthy (201 - 300)
Health alert: everyone may experience more serious health effects.
AQI: Hazardous(301 - 500) AQI: Hazardous (301 - 500)

Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, May 21st, 2018 through Thursday, May 24th, 2018 Ozone: 8-hour Ozone concentrations will be generally Good with some Moderates likely during the second half of the work week and the weekend. PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations will be mostly Good early in the week with some Low Moderates through the remainder of the forecast period. FORECAST DISCUSSION The work week begins with cooler temperatures, easterly winds, and the promise of rain. Air Quality, through the weekend and beginning of the current work week, is Good. Winds during the first half of the work week will transition from easterly, on Monday, to northerly by mid-week. Air Quality should remain Good during this period. By early Thursday, high pressure should be located over Michigan and winds will be very light. This may lead to some localized stagnation. As the high pressure moves eastward, winds will transition to the southwest. This will allow for warming temperatures and the possibility of pollutant transport across the lake. This pattern may last through into Sunday making it likely that some ozone creep is likely across the state. Right now, I see concentrations getting into the Moderate range and it will certainly merit a close watch to make sure it does not get any worse. Because of that concern, the regional forecasters have scheduled a call for Thursday. Winds should return to a northwestly direction by late Sunday and that should return the region to Good Air Quality for the remainder of the holiday weekend. EXTENDED FORECAST: Air Quality is expected to be mostly Good going into the next work week. Forecast updated by Jim Haywood: Monday, May 21st, 2018 Next forecast update: Thursday, May 24th, 2018
