Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, April 17th, 2017 through Monday, April 24th, 2017 PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations will range between Good and low Moderate through the forecast period. FORECAST DISCUSSION: A few showers may pass by the northern portion of the state Monday as a weak system moves through. However, better chances for precipitation develop late Tuesday into Wednesday, and again on Thursday, as stronger systems pass the state. On Friday, high pressure builds in with cooler and dry conditions for the end of the week. Air quality Monday will remain in the Good range. Southerly winds and increased moisture Tuesday ahead of the approaching weather system could allow fine particulate to increase into the low Moderate range, especially in southern portions of the state. A frontal boundary stalls just south of the state line Wednesday. Areas near the boundary may remain low Moderate for fine particulate, but most areas will be in the Good range. A stronger low pressures area passes the state Thursday with northerly winds after it moves through. Any increase in fine particulate will improve late Thursday with Good levels into Friday. EXTENDED FORECAST: Winds will be light Saturday with high pressure centered over the state. This could allow fine particulate to reach low Moderate. There is some uncertainty with a Sunday storm system. It looks like the southeastern portion of the state has the best chance of experiencing showers/storms as the storm tracks just south of the state. Regardless on the track of this system, fine particulate is not expected to reach higher than low Moderate Sunday, and levels should be Good Monday as that storm moves east and winds turn more northerly.
