Forecast Discussion: Tuesday, August 23rd – Surface winds are carrying smoke (PM-2.5) from the area wildfires to east, impacting air quality this morning until temperatures begin to increase and the winds help to disperse the wildfire smoke. The winds are forecast to become northerly by this evening, which should transport more of the smoke to south. Although air quality should improve later today and Wednesday, calm winds and overnight inversions will trap any remaining smoke (PM-2.5) close to the ground, which may allow some areas to reach the AQI-Unhealthy range on Tuesday and the AQI-Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range on Wednesday. /MCKAY
