Forecast Discussion: 6/15 - High pressure will provide a second day of pleasant weather to the Garden State. The presence of a clean air mass will continue with a second day of sunny skies and warm temperatures. Breezy northwest winds in the morning will diminish by afternoon hours and temperatures will be a few degrees below average. Ozone is forecast to remain in the upper good category with the potential of reaching the low moderate category in isolated locations. Levels of fine particulates are forecast to remain in the good category. 6/16 - Ozone is forecast to reach the moderate category state-wide on Saturday as high pressure persists into the weekend. Light winds, sunny skies, and temperatures reaching the mid-80s will create favorable conditions for ozone formation and there is the potential to see isolated ozone levels reach USG in southern New Jersey. Levels of fine particulates are forecast to rise into the upper good/low moderate category in response to light surface winds. 6/17 - An Ozone Action Day has been declared! Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category for locations along the I-95 corridor of New Jersey due to light southwest winds, warm temperatures, and abundant sunshine. Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. In addition, levels of fine particulates are forecast to reach the moderate category in urban locations in response to light surface winds. 6/18 - An Ozone Action Day has been declared! Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category for locations along the I-95 corridor of New Jersey due to light winds, record high temperatures, and abundant sunshine. Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. In addition, levels of fine particulates are forecast to reach the moderate category in urban locations in response to light surface winds and increasing humidity.
