Forecast Discussion: Monday, September 25: An upper-level ridge of high pressure will weaken and depart to the east. However, mostly sunny, warm conditions will enhance ozone formation, and light easterly to southeasterly winds will transport additional pollutants into the Youngstown area. These conditions will yield Moderate AQI levels. Tuesday, September 26: Calm to light and variable winds will inhibit pollutant dispersion, and warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies will increase ozone production. In addition, pollutant carryover from the previous day will be high. Therefore, AQI levels will be high-Moderate. Wednesday through Saturday, a series of cold fronts will approach and pass through the Mahoning Valley, bringing cool, clean air into the region. As a result, AQI levels will be Good on all four days.
