AQI: Good (0 - 50) AQI: Good (0 - 50)
Air quality is considered satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk.
AQI: Moderate (51 - 100) AQI: Moderate (51 - 100)
Air quality is acceptable; however, for some pollutants there may be a moderate health concern for a very small number of people who are unusually sensitive to air pollution.
AQI: Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101 - 150) AQI: Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101 - 150)
Although general public is not likely to be affected at this AQI range, people with lung disease, older adults and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone, whereas persons with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk from the presence of particles in the air.
AQI: Unhealthy (151 - 200) AQI: Unhealthy (151 - 200)
Everyone may begin to experience health effects members of sensitive groups may experience more serious health effects.

Forecast Discussion: Wednesday, August 15: Partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s will increase ozone formation in Youngstown-Warren. In addition, west-southwesterly winds will transport smoke from fires in the western U.S. and Canada into the region, increasing particle concentrations. As a result, AQI levels will be Moderate. Thursday, August 16: As a cold front moves into the Mahoning Valley, mostly cloudy skies and rain showers will reduce ozone production. However, lingering smoke will keep AQI levels low-Moderate for particles. Friday, mostly cloudy skies and rain showers will continue to limit ozone production. Furthermore, moderate southwesterly winds and thunderstorms will keep the lower levels of the atmosphere well mixed. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good. Saturday, northerly winds will disperse pollutants and bring clean air into Youngstown-Warren. Therefore, despite partly to mostly sunny skies aiding ozone formation, AQI levels will remain Good. Sunday, lighter winds will reduce dispersion, and mostly sunny skies will support ozone production. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Monday, light southeasterly winds will gradually transport additional pollutants into the Mahoning Valley, and mostly sunny skies will enhance ozone formation. These conditions will lead to Moderate AQI levels.
