Forecast Discussion: Today, moderate northerly winds will bring clean air into southern Minnesota, yielding Good AQI levels. Tomorrow, as a low pressure system approaches from the north over Canada, southeasterly winds will gradually bring pollutants into Rochester. In addition, increasing temperatures will support ozone formation. However, low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good. Friday, partly sunny skies and warmer temperatures will enhance ozone formation in the Rochester region. In addition, light to moderate southerly to southwesterly winds will continue to transport regional pollutants into the area. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Saturday and Sunday, light to moderate west-northwesterly winds will aid pollutant dispersion in Rochester. However, warm and sunny conditions will enhance ozone formation, leading to low-Moderate AQI levels on both days. Monday, northwesterly winds will strengthen, effectively dispersing pollutants and bringing cooler air into southern Minnesota. These conditions will lead to Good AQI levels.
