Forecast Discussion: Today and tomorrow, light to moderate west-northwesterly winds behind a departing cold front will disperse pollutants and bring a clean air mass into Rochester. In addition, cooler temperatures will inhibit ozone formation on Thursday. These conditions will result in Good AQI levels on both days. Friday, westerly winds will weaken, reducing pollutant dispersion. However, low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good. Saturday, mostly cloudy skies and rain showers will limit ozone formation, and moderate southeasterly winds will help to disperse pollutants. As a result, AQI levels will remain Good. Sunday and Monday, light southerly winds will limit pollutant dispersion in Rochester, and increasing sunshine will enhance ozone formation. However, low pollutant carryover from day to day will keep AQI levels Good on both days.
