Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, November 13th, 2017 through Monday, November 20th, 2017 PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations will range between Good and Moderate Monday and Tuesday with mostly Good readings the rest of the forecast period. FORECAST DISCUSSION: High pressure starts the period with weak winds Monday turning southerly Tuesday. Fog is likely Monday night into Tuesday morning before southerly winds develop. Fine particulate early Monday was generally low Moderate and upper Good to low Moderate readings are expected through Tuesday. The next weather system is a cold front moving across the state Wednesday. Precipitation with this system begins late Tuesday and ends late Wednesday. High pressure then moves back in for a short time Thursday into early Friday. The focus then turns to a strong storm system for the weekend. The clean-out from the Wednesday cold front, and northerly winds on Thursday, will keep fine particulate Good through Friday. Forecast models show a storm system strengthening as it moves across the state Saturday. Ahead of the front, rain is expected Friday as strong southerly winds develop. Rain changes to snow Saturday behind the front with gusty winds turning northwesterly. Snow showers linger Sunday, especially in lake effect prone areas. Strong wind during the weekend will keep Fine Particulate in the Good range.
