Forecast Discussion: A low pressure system continues to move away from Minnesota on Wednesday with a lingering boundary extending through the eastern parts of the state. This has allowed particle pollutants to linger over the Twin Cities and Rochester area into the afternoon hours. Low yellow (moderate) AQI conditions to persist in the metro until the early evening hours before improving to green (good). Green AQI conditions for Thursday with light northwest to westerly winds. Increasing AQI values for Friday as a frontal boundary to reside over southern Minnesota helping pollutants to focus over the area. This will continue into Saturday as the slow-moving frontal system moves across southern and southeastern Minnesota. Overall, AQI conditions are expected to remain green, but will have occasional spikes into low yellow.
