Forecast Discussion: Air quality forecast northern Indiana issued Monday, September 26, 2016 for Tuesday, September 27 - Friday, September 30. An upper level trough and low pressure located over the Upper Midwest will gradually move southeast to the southern Lake Michigan/northwest Indiana region by Wednesday morning producing mostly cloudy conditions through Wednesday night with showers developing Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and generally good air quality. The upper level low will become 'cutoff' from the main wind flow pattern in the atmosphere and will slowly move southeast to the West Virginia/Virginia area by Friday morning. Wind speeds will remain rather fast at 10 to 20 miles per hour from a westerly direction on Tuesday becoming northwest to northerly by Wednesday through Friday. High temperatures will be in the 60s to 70 degrees through Friday so ozone production will be rather limited with levels remaining in the good range through Friday. Fine particulates will also be in the good range through Friday. The next air quality forecast update will be on Thursday.
