Forecast Discussion: It will be a cloudy but seasonably mild Memorial Day weekend for the State of Delaware. Saturday now appears to have a better chance for rain showers than Sunday, as a disturbance moves along a frontal boundary in the vicinity of southern Delaware in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies and upper level transport of a very clean air mass will keep ozone in check, while particles will rise slightly due to stagnant surface winds, but daily average air quality will continue in the Good range. Sunday may be the driest day of the holiday weekend, but mostly cloudy skies will persist. Light onshore winds will help to limit buildup of pollution as well, for another day of Good air quality. Scattered thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon on Memorial Day. Continued partly to mostly cloudy skies and onshore surface winds will extend the period of Good air quality. The sun will break through the clouds on Tuesday, allowing ozone to reach the low Moderate range. If more clouds linger than expected, ozone will once again be in the Good range. Particles will rise a bit higher in the Good range due to light winds and the return of workday emissions. **Extended Forecast: Wednesday should be a bit sunnier than Tuesday, allowing ozone to remain in the low Moderate range. Particles will drop a notch lower in the Good range in response to lower atmospheric moisture. -Huff/Enlow
