Forecast Discussion: It will be an unsettled weekend for the State of Delaware. The persistent frontal boundary to the south will lift northward as a warm front, promoting showers throughout the day, with localized areas of heavier precipitation. Light easterly winds will shift southerly in the afternoon. Overcast skies will prevent temperatures from exceeding the mid-70s °F. Ample cloud cover and clean regional conditions will keep ozone and particles well within the Good range. On Sunday, a weak cold front will move through the state in afternoon, keeping the chance for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, mainly in the afternoon. Overcast skies in the morning and early afternoon will give way partly sunny skies in the late afternoon and evening hours as high pressure builds in behind the front. The cooler air will be slow to arrive, allowing temperatures to rise into the low-to-mid 80s °F. Periods of sunshine and more seasonable temperatures will allow ozone and particles to rise, but both will remain in the Good range. The forecast for Monday is somewhat uncertain regarding the expected high temperatures. For now, we expect a mix of sun and clouds but a break in the precipitation, with seasonably warm conditions. Ozone and particles will increase a bit higher, but still remain in the Good range. **Extended Forecast: The forecast for Tuesday is also somewhat uncertain, due to questions about another cold front and associated low pressure system. The extent of cloud cover and precipitation will depend on how far east the boundary is able to advance. At this time, ozone and particles are expected to remain in the upper Good range. -Huff/Enlow
