Forecast Discussion: Showers and thunderstorms have developed a bit earlier than anticipated across the Triad this afternoon, causing air quality levels to rise slower than expected. However, precipitation coverage will likely remain scattered at best and the Triad should eek out another Code YELLOW before sunset. An offshore high pressure ridge will continue remain southeast of the state tomorrow, keeping the stationary frontal boundary north of the area throughout the day. Thus, we can expect conditions for Thursday to be quite similar to today, with a hot and humid air mass leading to scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. With that said, we can expect air quality levels to creep upward into the low Code YELLOW range. The aforementioned front will slide southward into the Triad Friday and Saturday, with partly sunny skies and afternoon showers/storms dropping air quality levels into the upper Code GREEN range through the weekend.
