Forecast Discussion: Today and tomorrow, light to moderate northerly winds will transport a clean air mass into the Rochester region, and cooler temperatures will limit ozone formation. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good on both days. Thursday and Friday, as surface high pressure moves through the Great Lakes, lighter winds will reduce pollutant dispersion in southern Minnesota. However, cooler temperatures will continue to limit ozone formation, and pollutant carryover from the previous days will be low. As a result, AQI levels will be Good on both days. Saturday, a low-pressure system approaching Minnesota will generate moderate to strong southerly winds in Rochester, effectively dispersing pollutants and yielding Good AQI levels. Sunday, scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase mixing in the atmosphere, and moderate southerly winds at the surface will continue to disperse pollutants. As a result, AQI levels will remain Good.
