Forecast Discussion: Mostly sunny skies have allowed for air quality levels to rise into the middle to upper Code GREEN range this afternoon. However, showers and thunderstorms (possibly severe) will move through the Triad later this afternoon and evening as a cold front sweeps through the region, causing ozone and particulate matter levels to fall into the low to middle Code GREEN range overnight. High pressure builds in from the west behind the front on Tuesday, and dry, westerly winds in conjunction with sunny skies will allow for air quality levels to rise into the upper Code GREEN range. Clouds gradually increase through the day on Wednesday as a frontal boundary approaches from the northwest by the evening. However, there should be enough sun peeking through throughout the day to keep air quality levels in the upper Code GREEN range. The front pushes through the Triad late Wednesday night and high pressure builds across the area during the day Thursday, keeping air quality levels in the upper Code GREEN range once again. (PAYNE)
