Forecast Discussion: Elevated particle pollution levels under a temporarily stagnant high pressure ridge will fall this afternoon as the axis of the ridge slides offshore. This will allow for wind speeds to gradually increase from the southwest, generating enough low-level dispersion to keep particle pollution in the upper Code GREEN range. Clouds are expected to increase late tonight as a weak cold air wedge sets up Sunday morning. An upper level trough in the central United States will push east and usher in an abundance of Gulf moisture northward into the Triad Sunday afternoon, keeping particle pollution in the middle to upper Code GREEN range. Warming continues on Monday as southwest flow increases ahead of a cold front moving in from the west. With lots of dispersion and cleaner Gulf air moving in, particle pollution should fall into the low to middle Code GREEN range Monday. The cold front passes through early Tuesday with high pressure building from the west in its wake. The cooler and cleaner air mass moving in should keep particle pollution in the low to middle Code GREEN range on Tuesday. (PAYNE)
