Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, April 14th, 2014 through Friday, April 18th, 2014 PM-2.5: 24-hour concentrations are expected to be mostly Good early in the period with Moderate levels moving in by Thursday/Friday. FORECAST DISCUSSION: Strong northerly winds will be in place Monday behind an existing low pressure area. Rain showers could change over to snow showers as colder air moves in. This northerly flow will keep Good air quality conditions in place. Winds decrease in speed with snow showers ending Tuesday as high pressure moves in from the west. High pressure dominating Wednesday and Thursday will keep quiet conditions in place. Air quality will remain Good through mid-week; however, by Thursday there is a chance for scattered low-Moderates as winds shift to the southeast. By Friday, the next weather system will be approaching from the southwest. Conditions will be warm enough keeping precipitation in the form of rain. Increased moisture on a southerly flow will keep the chance for low to middle Moderate fine particulate levels in place through Friday. EXTENDED FORECAST: The Friday system lingers over the state most of Saturday with high pressure moving in Sunday; remaining overhead through Monday. Winds late in the weekend are on the weak side keeping the chance for Moderate fine particulate through early next week. Forecast updated by Stephanie Hengesbach: Monday, April 14th, 2014 Next forecast update: Friday, April 18th, 2014
