Forecast Discussion: *** Wednesday's Forecast: Chances for showers and thunderstorms will continue into the early morning hours on Wednesday before drier conditions move in for the afternoon. A few isolated to scattered showers/thunderstorms may develop Wednesday afternoon, but chances will not be as great as those on Tuesday afternoon. The flow will turn to more westerly, compared to the southerly breeze Tuesday. Smoke from the fires in Canada will once again transport eastward into the region with this westerly flow. With some cloud cover early before increasing sunshine in the afternoon, ozone will be of concern due to the influence of the wildfire smoke, but not to the extent of earlier in June when we were under a ridge of high pressure. Most locations are expected to see peak concentrations in the higher end of the good range with an isolated chance of a moderate reading. *** Extended Outlook: Unsettled weather will return on Thursday with the next disturbance in this active pattern bringing chances for precipitation. These chances are looking more isolated with each model run as the main threat appears to stay south of the state. Mostly cloudy to overcast skies through at least the first half of the day will limit ozone to the good range again. Chances for showers will continue with the passing of each disturbance almost every other day into early next week. The winds on Friday will turn to more northerly and then easterly, pulling a cleaner air mass into the region. The onshore flow mixed with clouds and sunshine should continue to limit ozone to the good range. --- Roble
