Forecast Discussion: Sunday, increasing southerly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will transport a cleaner air mass into Louisiana. However, smoke from regional fires will increase particle levels. As a result, AQI levels will be Good to Moderate statewide. Monday, the low-pressure system will move through Louisiana, increasing mixing in the atmosphere and generating moderate winds at the surface. These conditions will effectively disperse pollutants, yielding Good AQI levels throughout the state. Tuesday, lighter winds will reduce pollutant dispersion. However, pollutant carryover from the previous day will be low. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good to low-Moderate.
