Forecast Discussion: Thursday, a weak upper-level ridge of high pressure over northern California will reduce vertical mixing in the atmosphere. Furthermore, sunny, warm conditions will support the formation of ozone in the Sacramento region. Therefore, despite light to moderate onshore winds helping to disperse pollutants, ozone levels will be low-Moderate. Friday and Saturday, an upper-level trough of low pressure moving into the Pacific Northwest will enhance vertical mixing over northern California. In addition, moderate onshore winds will help to disperse pollutants. Therefore, despite sunny skies aiding ozone formation, ozone levels will be Good on both days.
