Forecast Discussion: Friday, February 5th – The partly sunny skies today will become increasingly cloudy as another frontal system brings valley rain and mountain snow to the region overnight, accompanied by breezy gusty winds tonight into Saturday. A strong ridge of high pressure is forecast Sunday through Wednesday, with light winds, poor ventilation, and patchy fog as overnight inversions create stagnant conditions. Although air quality will improve Friday night, due to the dry and stagnant conditions dust (PM-10) from the drying roadways will combine with increasing fine particulate concentrations (PM-2.5) to keep air quality in the AQI-Moderate range for Friday through Sunday, with a possibility of reaching the AQI-Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range by Monday. /MCKAY
