Forecast Discussion: All zones should finish at Code Green for ground-level ozone this Friday afternoon. The frontal system that is currently stalled over the central part of the Palmetto State should slowly lift northward as a warm front on Saturday. The wind profile should generally be light, but they should shift in direction from the northeast to the southwest as the front drifts northward. This should allow precursors to recirculate over the same areas, which may lead to increased ozone concentrations, especially in the urban areas of the northern tier of the state. Therefore, the Upstate and Catawba zones have been given a Code Yellow forecast, while all other zones should be at Code Green for Saturday with the cleaner, southerly flow.
