Forecast Discussion: Thursday, October 30: High pressure moving over Ohio will generate light westerly winds in Youngstown-Warren, reducing pollutant dispersion. However, a clean, dry air mass over the region will limit particle formation, resulting in Good AQI levels. Friday, October 31: Light southerly winds will develop ahead of an approaching low-pressure system, transporting regional pollutants and moisture into Youngstown-Warren that will enhance particle formation. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Saturday, as a low-pressure system moves across the Great Lakes and high pressure builds over the Upper Midwest, gusty northerly winds will disperse pollutants and transport clean air into the region, leading to Good AQI levels. Sunday, light to moderate west-northwesterly winds will keep pollutants well dispersed, yielding Good AQI levels. Monday and Tuesday, moderate southwesterly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will transport moisture and regional pollutants into the Mahoning Valley, aiding particle formation and resulting in low-Moderate AQI levels on both days.
