Forecast Discussion: Sunday, March 1: High relative humidity associated with fog and mist has supported particle production in northeastern Ohio. Furthermore, light southwesterly winds will transport additional pollutants into Youngstown-Warren. Therefore, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Monday, March 2: Surface high pressure building eastward into Ohio will produce moderate northwesterly winds, helping to disperse pollutants and bringing a cleaner, drier air mass into the Mahoning Valley. These conditions will reduce particle production, lowering AQI levels to Good. Tuesday, an approaching low-pressure system will enhance atmospheric mixing and generate moderate to strong southeasterly winds in Youngstown-Warren, helping to disperse pollutants. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good. Wednesday and Thursday, the low-pressure system will rapidly move through the Mahoning Valley and depart to the east, generating moderate west-northwesterly winds. These winds will effectively disperse pollutants and usher in a cool, clean air mass, leading to Good AQI levels on both days. Friday, surface high pressure building south of Ohio will cause moderate south-southwesterly winds to develop, transporting some regional pollutants into the Youngstown-Warren area. However, low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good.
