Forecast Discussion: Friday, November 21: Surface high pressure over the Ohio River Valley will produce light to moderate westerly winds in the Youngstown-Warren region, dispersing pollutants and leading to Good AQI levels. Saturday, November 22: As surface high pressure moves east and a low-pressure system develops to the southwest, moderate southerly winds will develop in the Mahoning Valley. These winds will transport regional pollutants and moisture into the area, increasing particle production and leading to low-Moderate AQI levels. Sunday, southeasterly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will bring additional pollutants into Youngstown-Warren. Furthermore, moisture associated with rain showers will aid particle formation. As a result, AQI levels be Moderate. Monday, a cold front will move through northeastern Ohio in the afternoon, enhancing atmospheric mixing and shifting winds to southwesterly. These weather conditions will disperse pollutants, lowering AQI levels to Good. Tuesday and Wednesday, light to moderate westerly winds behind the departing cold front will disperse pollutants and bring clean, cool air into the Youngstown-Warren region, yielding Good AQI levels on both days.
