Forecast Discussion: Today and tomorrow, light to moderate northwesterly winds will disperse pollutants and transport a clean, dry air mass into Rochester. Therefore, despite increasing sunshine and warm temperatures enhancing ozone formation, AQI levels will be Good on both days. Friday through Sunday, a weak upper-level ridge of high pressure will move over the Upper Midwest, reducing vertical mixing in the atmosphere over Rochester. In addition, light surface winds will limit pollutant dispersion, and partly to mostly sunny skies will aid ozone production. As a result, AQI levels will be Moderate on all three days. Monday, moderate southwesterly winds will transport additional regional pollutants into Rochester. In addition, partly sunny skies will aid ozone formation, keeping AQI levels Moderate.
