Forecast Discussion: Today and tomorrow, partly to mostly sunny skies will aid ozone formation in Rochester. In addition, light winds will limit pollutant dispersion. However, low regional carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good on both days. Thursday and Friday, a low-pressure system will gradually move through southeastern Minnesota, keeping the lower levels of the atmosphere well mixed and dispersing pollutants. As a result, AQI levels will be Good on both days. Saturday, as high pressure builds into Minnesota, light winds will inhibit the dispersion of pollutants in Rochester. In addition, mostly sunny skies will support ozone production. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Sunday, light to moderate southerly winds ahead of an approaching cold front will bring additional pollutants and moisture into Rochester, aiding particle formation. Furthermore, mostly sunny skies will enhance ozone production, leading to continued low-Moderate AQI levels.
