Forecast Discussion: Today, as a cold front moves through Minnesota early in the day, winds will shift to west-southwesterly, dispersing pollutants and bringing clean air into the Rochester area. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good. Tomorrow, lighter winds will reduce pollutant dispersion in the Rochester area. However, low pollutant carryover from Thursday will lead to Good AQI levels. Saturday, surface high pressure over the central Plains will produce moderate northwesterly winds in the Rochester area, dispersing pollutants and keeping AQI levels Good. Sunday and Monday, as a low-pressure system approaches from the west, moderate south-southeasterly winds ahead of it will bring pollutants and moisture into the Rochester area, aiding particle formation. While low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good on Sunday, AQI levels will increase to low-Moderate on Monday. Tuesday, as a low-pressure system moves through Minnesota, winds will shift to westerly, dispersing pollutants and bringing clean air into Rochester. These conditions will result in Good AQI levels.
