Forecast Discussion: Tuesday, moderate and occasionally gusty southerly winds ahead of a slowly approaching cold front will help to disperse pollutants in Louisiana. In addition, partly cloudy skies and scattered afternoon thunderstorms will inhibit ozone formation. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate in Monroe and Good elsewhere in Louisiana. Wednesday, the cold front will move through Louisiana, keeping the lower levels of the atmosphere well mixed and dispersing pollutants. In addition, mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain showers will limit ozone production, leading to Good AQI levels statewide. Thursday, high pressure will build into Louisiana, generating light and variable winds and limiting pollutant dispersion. In addition, partly sunny skies and temperatures near 90F will enhance ozone formation. However, pollutant carryover from previous days will be low, resulting in Good to low-Moderate AQI levels statewide.
