Forecast Discussion: Air quality forecast northern Indiana issued Thursday, May 16, 2013 for Friday, May 17 - Monday, May 20. Expect moderate air quality for fine particulates throughout the forecast period Thursday through Monday. Ozone concentrations will remain in the good range through Saturday before an increase in ozone occurs on Sunday as the wind direction becomes southeast to southerly on Sunday and mostly sunny conditions develop by Sunday. The upper air pattern will develop a ridge of high pressure across the Ohio Valley and Lake Michigan regions beginning on Sunday and continuing into Monday. However, more cloudiness on Monday as a cold front approaches from the west along with high temperatures in the low to middle 80s. All of northern Indiana is in the slight risk area for severe thunderstorms on Monday afternoon/evening through Monday night. The next air quality forecast update will be on Monday.
