Forecast Discussion: Air quality forecast northern Indiana issued Friday, March 27, 2015 for Saturday, March 28 - Monday, March 30. With very clean air across northern Indiana today, expect generally good air quality for fine particulates (PM2.5) for the period Friday through Monday as a predominately northwest wind flow at the surface and up through the middle levels of the atmosphere will maintain good air quality across northern Indiana. A surface high pressure will "settle in" across northern Indiana on Saturday providing sunny conditions and light wind speeds. Some increase in PM2.5 concentrations will occur by Saturday evening/night due to the proximity of the high and the light wind speeds. A southwest wind direction will increase in speed as the next cold front approaches northern Indiana from the northwest by Sunday morning. The cold front will arrive on Sunday afternoon with a northwest to northerly wind direction and below normal temperatures for the last weekend in March. The next air quality forecast update will be on Monday. Air quality forecast provided by IDEM, Office of Air Quality.
