Forecast Discussion: A cold front will approach Delaware on Sunday as surface high pressure moves offshore. Wintery precipitation will arrive in the late morning, beginning as snow and quickly turning to a mixture of sleet and freezing rain. Light southerly winds and cloudy skies will inhibit atmospheric mixing, allowing particle concentrations to rise rapidly, especially through the morning. Regional particle concentrations are rising more slowly than expected on Saturday afternoon due to a very dry air mass in place and sufficient vertical mixing under sunny skies. As a result, carry-over of pollutants into Sunday will be less than expected, limiting rising particle concentrations to the upper Moderate range on Sunday. **Extended Forecast: The cold front will move through the state early Monday morning. Particle concentrations will begin the day in the mid-to-upper Moderate range and fall gradually as gusty winds arrive behind the cold front, with daily average air quality in the low-to-mid-Moderate range. On Tuesday, particle concentrations will rebound due to recirculating surface winds as another area of high pressure moves overhead. -Huff
