Forecast Discussion: Sunday, as a surface high-pressure system passes over Louisiana, light southwesterly to westerly winds will limit pollutant dispersion. In addition, a strong overnight temperature inversion will trap particles near the ground. Therefore, AQI levels will be low-Moderate in most cities. Monday, a cold frontal passage will generate moderate northwesterly winds throughout Louisiana, effectively dispersing pollutants and transporting a cleaner air mass into the state. As a result, AQI levels will be Good. Tuesday, moderate northwesterly winds will persist behind the departing cold front, continuing to aid pollutant dispersion in Louisiana and yielding Good AQI levels statewide.
