Forecast Discussion: Wednesday, smoke from regional fires will enhance particle production, particularly in southeastern Louisiana. However, light to moderate southeasterly winds will develop as a cold front approaches from the northwest. These winds will help to disperse pollutants, yielding Good to low-Moderate AQI levels throughout the state. Thursday, the cold front will move through Louisiana late in the day, keeping the lower levels of the atmosphere well mixed and dispersing pollutants. As a result, AQI levels will be Good statewide. Friday, surface high pressure over the Great Lakes will generate light to moderate northeasterly winds in Louisiana, effectively dispersing pollutants and keeping AQI levels Good statewide.
