Forecast Discussion: Tuesday and Wednesday, generally light east-northeasterly winds will limit pollutant dispersion throughout Louisiana. In addition, mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s will aid ozone production. However, increased mixing due to surface heating and scattered thunderstorms will help to disperse some pollutants. These conditions, combined with pollutant carryover from day to day, will result in Good to low-Moderate AQI levels statewide on both days. Thursday, light to moderate southeasterly winds will develop ahead of an approaching low-pressure system, transporting a cleaner air mass into Louisiana. In addition, scattered thunderstorms will continue to aid vertical mixing in the atmosphere, helping to disperse pollutants. Therefore, despite mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s enhancing ozone formation, AQI levels will be Good to low-Moderate throughout the state.
