Forecast Discussion: Friday, mostly cloudy skies and scattered thunderstorms will reduce ozone formation in Louisiana. In addition, light to moderate south-southeasterly winds winds will help to disperse pollutants. However, these winds will also transport smoke from the central Gulf into Louisiana, increasing particle levels. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good to low-Moderate across the state. Saturday, cloud cover and scattered thunderstorms will inhibit ozone formation across Louisiana. However, moderate southwesterly winds will transport smoke into Louisiana, resulting in Moderate AQI levels across the state. Sunday, light southerly winds will reduce pollutant dispersion and bring additional smoke into Louisiana. Furthermore, mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. These conditions will lead to Moderate AQI levels statewide.
