Forecast Discussion: Increasing clouds along a cold front passing through the Triad today has kept ozone levels in the middle Code GREEN range today. Particulate matter concentrations earlier this morning and early afternoon were hovering around the low Code YELLOW range, but cleaner and cooler air moving in behind the front should help drop levels into the middle to upper Code GREEN range later this afternoon and evening. Weak high pressure builds in the the wake of the departing front, keeping air quality levels in the middle Code GREEN range on Thursday. Increasing clouds are expected Friday ahead of an upper level disturbance moving in from the northwest and should keep ozone and particulate matter levels in the low to middle Code GREEN range. The upper disturbance moves into the area late Friday and a rapidly deepening low pressure system develops over the eastern Carolinas on Saturday. This will enhance breezy northeasterly winds across the Triad and usher in a cold, wet rain to keep particle pollution levels in the low Code GREEN range. (PAYNE)
