Forecast Discussion: Today, as a weak cold front passes through Rochester, moderate northwesterly winds will disperse pollutants, resulting in Good AQI levels. Tomorrow, light easterly winds will limit pollutant dispersion as surface high pressure moves over northern Minnesota. However, low pollutant carryover from Monday will keep AQI levels Good. Wednesday, as surface high pressure moves east over the Great Lakes, southerly winds will develop in Rochester, bringing pollutants into the area. Furthermore, mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. Therefore, AQI levels will be low-Moderate. Thursday through Saturday, surface low pressure over the Plains will generate light to moderate southerly winds in Rochester, transporting additional pollutants into the region. Furthermore, partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low-80s will continue to aid ozone formation. As a result, AQI levels will be Moderate on all three days.
