Forecast Discussion: Today, as a low-pressure system departs Minnesota, moderate northwesterly winds behind it will effectively disperse pollutants in Rochester, causing AQI levels to be Good. Tomorrow and Wednesday, south-southeasterly winds will develop as surface high pressure builds east of Minnesota. Despite these winds gradually transporting regional pollutants into Rochester, low regional pollutant carryover from day to day will keep AQI levels Good on both days. Thursday, a weak low-pressure system will move through Minnesota, enhancing atmospheric mixing over Rochester and dispersing pollutants. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good. Friday and Saturday, surface high pressure building over Minnesota will cause winds to weaken, inhibiting pollutant dispersion in Rochester. In addition, a humid air mass will aid particle formation, resulting in low-Moderate AQI levels on both days.
