Forecast Discussion: Today through Thursday, light to moderate northwesterly winds will disperse pollutants and transport a clean, dry air mass into Rochester. Therefore, despite increasing sunshine and warmer temperatures enhancing ozone formation Tuesday through Thursday, AQI levels will be Good on all four days. Friday and Saturday, a weak upper-level ridge of high pressure will move over the Upper Midwest, reducing vertical mixing in the atmosphere. In addition, light surface winds will limit pollutant dispersion, and partly to mostly sunny skies will aid ozone production. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate on both days.
