Forecast Discussion: Today, moderate northwesterly winds behind a departing cold front will disperse pollutants in southeastern Minnesota, leading to Good AQI levels. Tomorrow, as a low-pressure system approaches from the west, moderate south-southeasterly winds ahead of it will bring pollutants and moisture into the Rochester area, aiding particle formation. However, low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good. Monday, moderate southeasterly winds during the morning hours will continue to transport regional pollutants into southeastern Minnesota. However, as the low-pressure system moves through Minnesota in the middle of the day, winds will shift to westerly, dispersing pollutants and bringing clean air into Rochester. These conditions will result in Good AQI levels. Tuesday and Wednesday, moderate and occasionally gusty west-northwesterly winds behind the departing low-pressure system will effectively disperse pollutants and transport a clean, dry air mass into southeastern Minnesota. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good on both days. Thursday, a weak low-pressure system will move through Minnesota, enhancing vertical mixing in the atmosphere and shifting winds to northerly. These weather conditions will effectively disperse pollutants, yielding Good AQI levels.
