Forecast Discussion: Thursday and Friday, an upper-level ridge of high pressure will strengthen over California, reducing mixing in the atmosphere. In addition, light and variable winds at the surface will limit pollutant dispersion. However, low relative humidity will inhibit particle production in the Sacramento area. Therefore, particle levels will be Good to low-Moderate on both days. Saturday, surface high pressure building to the north of California will generate moderate to strong northwesterly winds, effectively dispersing pollutants in the Sacramento region and yielding Good particle levels.
